We've created Yubee to bring the hard-to-find, out-of-the-way attractions, authentic cultural experiences, hidden gems of restaurants, and the coolest accommodations to travelers around the world. All discovered by real people. We carefully curate content written and photographed by adventurous travelers who know there's more to life than tourist attractions. And we deliver that to our users in a simple and accessible form that makes it easy to find the content they need to make their next trip an unforgettable adventure. We want our users to get the best travel experience out of yubee. Maintaining a high standard is key and the purpose of the following «Story Review Guidelines» is to ensure that quality.
We are excited that you – as a Yubee Selected Traveler – share your adventures with us and we want to make sure that your stories get through the review process smoothly and provides the most value to your audience – and ultimately to you personally!
The following Guidelines provide information on what content we are looking for, what we consider «great content» and what the requirements to create such content are. This document changes over time as the travel world is changing too – you may have special requirements that need these guidelines to be extended.
The concept of a yubee travel story is simple: We want to give you the ability to express the experience of your travel adventure to its full extent while at the same time make that story easily accessible to our users. A visual, lightweight and fun way to discover places, moments and emotions that made your trip so special. Blog post quality with incredible simplicity.
The key concept of Yubee Travel Stories are Spots. A Spot is a single magical experience of your trip that you want to share. Spots are always related to a (precise) location, but can literally be anything. A place, a venue, a slice of an activity, a hike – just anything. It’s a way to say «I experienced this, there». A spot may be as simple as the exceptional coffee you’re just enjoying at that secret cafe, or the vibrant feeling you have while enjoying the sunset with your love on that special bench. There aren’t any limits – as long as we think that other travelers would like to visit your spot!
Spots can be expressed in many different ways ranging from text-only to images, videos and more. Keep a spot short and to the point. A 6 second video, an image or just a word with a location is often enough to express something meaningful.
A full travel story is simply a sequence of many meaningful spots brought into context and put into a greater narrative that expresses the beauty of your unique travel experience.
It is extremely simple to create a Yubee Travel Story. But we aren’t looking for any story, we are looking for the great stories – the meaningful ones that provide value to travelers around the world. But what do we consider a valuable story? The principle is easy: We want every single story a traveler discovers on yubee to be worth following along while traveling, so that travelers have the best possible experience and you – as a Yubee Selected Traveler – get the opportunity to be successful on yubee.
There is not a silver bullet about what spots are «worth it» and it depends on many factors. This is the reason why we carefully select travelers we trust to submit content on yubee. Travelers who proved to have a good hang for exceptional adventures.
Think of the perfect travel story as something you would tell your best friend. People love authentic places. Exceptional activities. Unique, sustainable accommodations. Beautiful spots in the nature. Hikes through stunning landscapes and much more. We are looking for moments like these that are original and represent the best travel experience for many travelers around the world.
Typically a great Yubee Travel Story is a Day- or Multi-Day-Trip and contains unique places to eat, drink and sleep, mixed with great things to do and special locations you won’t find in other apps. But traveling is never one-size-fits-all and we are looking forward to see what your very own creativity comes up with.
The following chapters contain more concrete requirements that all stories must comply with.
Yubee is a travel platform. All stories submitted to yubee must be travel related and represent activities people typically do while travelling. Yubee is not restrictive on what people consider as travel related but we may reject stories that clearly do not provide any potential value for travelers.
1.2.1 The provided story must be complete in a way that allows travelers who discover your story to follow along your spots without having to get critical information from other sources first.
1.2.2 It must be clear what can be expected from a place, accommodation, activity or any other spot you share.
1.2.3 Be clear about the specific location of a place or venue or provide the necessary information for people to find what you are sharing.
1.3.1 You are responsible that the contents and information of your story are true and correct. Do not provide wrong or misleading information – especially but not exclusively about the specific location of a place.
1.3.2 Update your stories frequently. You are responsible to keep your stories updated and correct. We may remove your story if it contains content that is not correct or outdated in any way.
The goal of sharing a Yubee Travel Story is to inspire other travel to follow your places or activities. Therefore it is crucial that the information you provide is as accurate and specific as possible. For example saying «Great Coffee in New York» is not specific enough, you may rather provide the exact location of the cafe with a nice visual of the coffee itself.
Avoid duplicate content. Yubee wants to provide a rich selection of many unique places and travel experiences all around the world. We prefer stories about many different places rather than many stories about a single place. Although multiple stories might highlight different aspects or facets of a place, we might reject stories that are duplicate and do not provide any additional value. Always check existing Yubee Travel Stories before you submit your own.
The following Do’s and Don’ts reflect best practices based on our research and experience and are recommendations rather than requirements. You might have a specific use case where some points do not apply.
2.2.1 Use high quality visuals. Images and Videos must follow a general understanding and standard of a «great» photo or video (e.g. not be pixelated, artistically interesting, beautiful colors, etc…). We do not expect you to be a professional photographer, however we might reject a story if the quality of the visuals is impacting the overall experience of the story in a negative way.
2.2.2 Keep videos short. Videos should typically be less than 10 seconds and express one specific spot. We might accept longer videos if the length is needed to provide significant value. In general you may split a longer video into multiple small slices and create a story with a sequence of short videos rather than one big video. Make sure that each slice represents a meaningful moment.
Linking and/or otherwise referring to resources outside of yubee are generally not allowed. However, links/references may be used with the following exceptions and only if the linked resource provides additional value to the user:
Your story must provide value to travelers. A travel story is considered valuable when it’s content contains inspiration, tipps or other information that increases a travelers experience while planning a trip or being on a trip.
We want you to tell your personal travel story, with your authentic insights, experiences and lessons learned. Create a narrative, give context and transport emotions. Create magical moments. That is what traveling is after all. We may reject stories that are profane lists of places without any meaning.
Yubee is looking for unique places. Exceptional spots that are typically off-tourist and are magical in a way. Things that make a trip worthy. Stuff you would tell your friends about. We know that some places, accommodations or activities are just all-time-best-sellers that still have a valid place in your travel story – but we are also sure that there is a lot more discover out there and your story should be a good mix of both. Be creative, be original. Give your travel stories a personal touch and places that might remain hidden without you! Learn more on what we consider unique.
Commercial Venues are part of most every day trips and totally valid to be featured in your travel stories. Please consider the following Guidelines when sharing commercial venues in your stories.
3.5.1 You are not allowed to link/reference any booking website related to a commercial venue.
3.5.2 Do not provide any pricing information or booking tips in any other form.
You have put a lot of effort into creating your Yubee Travel Story and we want you to get most out of it. Therefore it is important that people have a good chance to find your content on yubee. Here are some tips on how you can improve your visibility.
4.1.1 Using the Location is the most common way of travelers to find interesting things around them or at a specific area. User correct and precise location tags for each of your story’s spots to optimize the location-based visibility of your story.
4.1.2 Users may also use specific hashtags to filter the stories on yubee. Using meaningful hashtags in your spot’s description will help them find your story.
4.1.3 Yubee offers various filters to search for stories. We categorize stories to make them available for different sets of filters. Categorization is done automatically (per spot) based on your spot’s content. You may also manually set suitable categories.
